Lubricating oil is a technology intensive product that is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons, and its true performance is the comprehensive effect of complex physical or chemical changes. Lubricating grease: A thick, greasy semi solid. Used for the friction part of machinery, for lubrication and sealing purposes. It is also used on metal surfaces to fill voids and prevent rust. Mainly composed of mineral oil (or synthetic lubricating oil) and thickener.
The main functions of lubricating grease are lubrication, protection, and sealing.
The vast majority of lubricating grease is used for lubrication, known as antifriction grease. Anti friction lubricating grease mainly plays a role in reducing mechanical friction and preventing mechanical wear. At the same time, it also plays a protective role in preventing metal corrosion and sealing and dust prevention. Some lubricating greases are mainly used to prevent metal rust or corrosion, and are called protective greases. For example, industrial petroleum jelly and other lubricants have a small number specifically designed for sealing purposes, known as sealing grease, such as thread grease. Lubricating grease is mostly a semi solid substance with unique flowability.
The working principle of lubricating grease is that the thickener keeps the oil in the position where it needs to be lubricated. When there is a load, the thickener releases the oil, thereby providing lubrication.
At room temperature and at rest, it resembles a solid, able to maintain its shape without flowing, and can adhere to metal without slipping. When subjected to high temperatures or external forces beyond a certain limit, it can also generate flow like a liquid. When lubricating grease is subjected to shear action by moving parts in machinery, it can generate flow and lubricate, reducing friction and wear between moving surfaces. After the shear action stops, it can restore a certain consistency, and the special fluidity of lubricating grease determines that it can be lubricated in areas that are not suitable for using lubricating oil. In addition, as it is a semi solid substance, its sealing and protective effects are better than lubricating oil.
