2. The tighter the water pump fan belt, the better:

The tighter the belt, the better. Tight belts not only elongate or break them, shortening their service life, but also cause deformation, bending, and early damage to bearings of the generator shaft and water pump shaft due to excessive tension. The tightness of the automotive engine fan belt should meet the technical requirements, and it is generally recommended to have a deflection of 10-15mm during normal belt assembly.

3. Blindly removing the engine thermostat:

If the thermostat is blindly removed due to high engine temperature, the coolant can only undergo a large cycle and cannot adjust the cooling intensity, making it difficult to ensure that the engine operates at a more suitable temperature. Instead, it often causes the engine to operate at low temperatures, resulting in a decrease in engine power, accelerated wear, and increased fuel consumption. If the engine thermostat malfunctions or is replaced, and the engine temperature is still high, other parts of the cooling system should be repaired and the thermostat cannot be removed.

4. Warm up the engine at idle speed:

When warming up at idle speed, due to the low speed, the oil pump cannot quickly inject lubricating oil pressure into the lubrication surfaces, and the oil pressure is also low, causing various moving parts of the engine to work under dry or semi dry friction conditions; Due to poor low-temperature atomization of fuel, unburned fuel can enter the crankcase, washing away the oil film on the cylinder wall, and also accelerating the wear of components. So, after starting the engine for a few seconds, apply fast idle heating to improve the lubrication conditions of the engine.

5. Baking the oil base with a blowtorch:

Baking the oil bottom with a blowtorch in winter not only causes chemical changes in the additives in the engine oil, losing their original performance, but also causes the engine oil to bond and deform, which can easily cause fires. The best practice is to choose the appropriate engine oil based on the local minimum winter temperature. In places with conditions, it is best to park the vehicle in a garage with insulation facilities for motor maintenance.
